I maintain a blog on current events in Afghanistan called afghanopoly, which is also linked to my twitter account (@afghanopoly). The blog started as a teaching tool, to give my students an opportunity to interact with a variety of people interested in the past, present and future of Afghanistan (experts, journalists, soldiers, Afghan politicians, etc.). It has now become more than that. It is now a space in which I post on anything related to my own research interests: the political strategies of local strongmen who manage outside pressures to conform to state-building ideas, in Afghanistan and beyond.
